The Bible says in Romans 5:7-8 that "one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity (1 John 5:7; 2 Corinthians 13:14; I Peter 1:2), who is God in the flesh (Titus 2:13), and who lived a perfect, sinless life (Hebrews 4:15) took our punishment on the cross at Calvary (1 Peter 2:24).
What we need on judgment day is RIGHTEOUSNESS. How do we get righteousness? Look at Romans 3:20-22:
"For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe."
You receive righteousness through faith alone in Jesus Christ as the payment for your sin. Nothing you do can save you. The only hope you have is to put all of your faith in Jesus Christ as the only suitable payment for your sins against God. If your faith is in Jesus Christ, then you will be saved. John 3:16-17 says that "God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."
If your belief is real, it will always be accompanied by repentance. Repentance is turning from the sin in your life and doing the things that please God. >> |
